Boim Solomon Samsonovich

Watercolorist and graphic artist. Born into a family of a bookbinder. Graduated Dmitrievsky non-classical secondary school, studied at the Kharkov Art College, from where he was called into the army. Fought against Denikin at Orel. Worked at the Political Administration of the Red Army as an artist, then he was sent to continue his education in Moscow. From 1922 to 1929 he studied at VKhUTEMAS and VHUTEINe, was a student of N. Kupriyanov. From 1932 was member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. In 1941 during the Second World War he was appointed to the Navy House of Kronshtadt. From 1943 to 1945 - was a chief artist at the Political Administration of the Baltic Fleet. At the end of his life he lived in Moscow, was a professor of painting at Moscow State Art School. Has been taking part in exhibitions since 1926. Had the following works in easel (a series of "Leningrad under siege," 1942 - 1943; "Nakhimov", 1950 - 1951; "Volga-Don", 1953 - 1955; "Leningrad", 1956; "Moscow", 1957 - 1964; " Children's music. School " 1959; " Baltic ", 1963), book illustrations (drawing, lithography, watercolor), etc. A large number of his work is stored in the Picture Gallery of Krasnoarmeysk (Moscow Region). The painting " The Execution of partisan Vera Tereshchenko" (1967) is kept at Dmitrievsky State Reginal Natural History Museum named after A.F. Vangengeim . Died and buried in Moscow.
