Ganf Yuliy Abramovich

1898 born in Poltava.
1917-1920 studied in the "Khudozhestvenny tsekh" (Art shop) studio in Kharkov by E. Steinberg.
1922-1924 studied at VKHUTEMAS in Moscow under I. Nivinskogo and V. Favorskogo.
From 1920 started to draw political caricatures for Moscow magazines and newspapers: "Red Pepper", "Atheist", "Crocodile", "Pravda". Illustrated books for Detgiza; "Molodaya Gvardiya" (Young Guards), "Pravda" and others.
From 1930 created political posters.
1945 named as Honoured Worker of Arts of RSFSR.
1964 named National Artist of RSFSR.
1970 awarded Gold medal "Fighter for Peace" at the International Exhibition "Satire in a fight for Peace".
1973 died in Moscow.
